Ivory Coast National Association of the Deaf (ANASOCI) benefited from a training on Fundraising last April 2019 as part of the Transnational Capacity Building Project for the Associations of the Deaf, known as the WCARS Project.
The first application implemented by ANASOCI was to find funding for the effective participation of its representatives in the General Assembly and the 18th World Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf in Paris, France. The executive team had followed the techniques of fundraising training and started requesting for a financial support from the National Lottery of Ivory Coast. The application written in May 2019 quickly received the agreement in principle from the donor. But the donor put a condition of presenting a visa of the beneficiary people first and they will free the funds then.
It was so hard for ANASOCI. The board of this association have therefore sent a letter of request for an audience to explain the importance for them of having a part of the funding available for the registration fee and booking and make the necessary steps for the visa process. It is therefore with real relief that the association has finally benefited the part of the requested funds for the full support of the participation of its two delegates in the world deaf event in France.
Frequent communication with the donor to inform him about the use of the funding received has thus been a factor in the sustainability of the partnership. This success would probably not have occurred. ANASOCI took the opportunity to say thanks to the WCARS project for bringing more through the training on fundraising.
