From 18th September to 8th October 2017, the first training phase of training of the trainers (TOT) for deaf trainers (TDT) was held in Lomé, Togo. The TDT group includes two deaf participants per project beneficiary country, ie 8 people in total. The training was followed by a study trip to the Ghana National Association of the Deaf (GNAD) headquarters in Accra, Ghana, which lasted one week.
This first training of deaf trainers was provided by the Expert Trainers from Ghana and Denmark. The aim was to equip the trained deaf trainers with the tools and knowledge they will have to use to provide capacity-building training to Board members and deaf community in their countries.
WCARS wishes them good luck in working in their home. Outcomes of the training will be evaluated at the next meeting of the project forum in June 2018 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
